AutoArt 2005 Mustang Mustang GT Convertible- Ltd Ed of 6000

Since 1964, the Ford Mustang has been an American automobile icon representing the ultimate dream sports car for the ‘everyday man and woman.’ The working class sports car enthusiast’s answer to the Chevrolet Corvette. The Mustang never dropped out of production but changed in appearance often to where many who loved the original couldn’t recognize their beloved Mustang.

In 2005, Ford revolutionized the industry by recreating the Mustang via the “retro look.” They went back to the looks of the old Mustang and added a dash of rakish modern good looks and technology. What they emerged with was a smashing sales success story. The Ford Mustang had an infusion of new blood and new buyers. Not wanting to sit still in 2006, Ford offered several new packages for the Mustang, including the Pony Package and a brutish V8. It was available in Standard, Deluxe and Premium (the last two available for the Mustang GT) and two new colors were added: Vista Blue and Tungsten Grey.

AUTO art has quietly been releasing top shelf quality Mustangs for years. More commonly recognized for their European model releases, the AUTO Art quality also goes into a large selection of American Muscle like Corvettes and Mustangs. This brand new 2006 Ford Mustang Convertible model comes roaring into the Christmas season with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from AUTO art. From the Screaming Yellow color to the intimidating stance, the AUTO art 2006 Mustang convertible is eye candy with substance. Since it’s part of the Performance series, this Mustang came in the clear plastic window box with the wired booby traps in the trunk and hood. Once you get past those and hold the model in your hands, you’ll notice the hefty weight. It feels good in the hands. The Screaming Yellow paint gleams and is smooth as ice. No paint imperfections. This one comes sporting the GT package with the raised chrome GT emblems on the sides and the chrome gas cap on the trunk. Sticking out back are the bright chrome dual exhaust pipes. AUTO art hasn’t let me down with their headlight and lenses. Perfect replication and detailing. The tires are real rubber and as part of the GT Package, this beauty shows off with 4 bright machined-cast 17 inch aluminum wheels that could be mistaken for the real things.

The beautiful thing about the New Ford Mustang is the spacious interior and AUTO art has captured it perfectly in miniature. Although the seats are hard plastic and don’t move, the look is spot on. For the price, giving up moving seats is not an issue for me. The Dark Grey interior has carpeting that is in scale, seat belts, an amazingly detailed dash board of combination satin finish chrome and bright chrome. It’s as inviting as the real thing.

This convertible is equipped with the street busting 4.6 liter aluminum V8 with 3-Valve heads that cranks out 300 horses and AUTO art has detailed the engine where any Mustang enthusiast will want to display it with the hood up to show it off. Although, I have to point out that the hood will not stay open. A persistent problem with the AUTO art samples I’ve gotten.

This is one car that I can recommend to even the most casual collector. It’s that good. Those that love the Mustang will want one. Those that collect diecast in any scale will want one for their collection. Convertible collectors can’t go without it. Mustang diecast collectors, don’t fight the urge for this one. You want it.
