Bill Bennett did a fantastic review of this model in it's carbon fiber chassis version that was a dealer exclusive Porsche Part# WAP02160618. So let me just add a few bullets about this new, full livery version:
- The paint is vivid and sharp, reminding me of the yellow and red Porsche 962 "Shell" livery and this piece makes a great "yesterday and today" display with the UH version of that model.
- The model is very lightweight. As a racing fan, I must say I like my models emulating life and race cars tend to be very light. As a collector, I am torn about it for reasons that are purely emotional. There is part of me that enjoys models with a certain heft to them - call it the CMC factor. I just dig that well machined feel. However, when I think about it intellectually, a lighter car is easier to handle and has all the pizazz without much additional shelf load.
- The engine is one of AUTO art's best efforts; Penske clean and fastidiously articulated.
-The rear bonnet is a huge pain to mount and to my eyes it never really cedes totally correct. Not a huge issue but it does try your patience making it fit well.
The model is a delight and highly reccomended both in terms of it's historical importance and quality of execution.
