I just received the CMC Mercedes W125 and i can tell you i have not seen a 1:18 model to match it for detail or quality of construction. Every time CMC release a new model they improve the detailing over the previous offering and the build is always superb. At this rate it can't be long before they give us a model that starts and runs.

The W125 is (beautifully) constructed of 586 metal components, of which 37 are photo-etched and 101 plastic parts. The seats are textile upholstered and the dash panel is made from stainless steel. The bonnet is fully louvred and held in place by spring loaded catches which replicate the originals. Think of the catches on the W154 but on this car they actually work. The exhaust is of chromed metal with a heat burnished look to it- all orange and gold and beautiful. The steering wheel is crafted of photo-etched metal and plastic and the underbonnet area houses a wealth of detail that other manufacturers can only as yet aspire to. The wheels are bog-standard CMC offerings, i.e. fashioned from real metal spokes, unprecedented and glorious, and the car rests on springs that are supple and do not stress the other suspension components when loaded. The paint is without flaw, even on the louvred area of the bonnet.

In short, the detail on this car must make other manufacturers "furious" with envy. Even if cars of this period are not what you like to collect, you need to take a good look at this car- no one is making anything that can touch it. It is also considerably cheaper than some other "high end" models that offer less in terms of both detail and quality. I don't post here often but when I do I have something to say. Do yourself a favour and take a good long look at this car. Everyone should have something this good in their collection.
