This magnificent car is inspired by the legendary Mercedes 300 SLRs (also known as W196 s) that were unbeatable on the world stage in 1955. The car is a brilliant fusion of Silver Arrow aesthetics and contemporary Formula 1 technology. Who better to capture the thrill of such a stunning car than CMC. In its 1:18 scale incarnation, it takes CMC 895 independent parts to recreate the car. Use of copper allows their designers to reproduce the complex shapes of the car's contour with exacting precision.

The Gullwing doors operate realistically. But that's just the beginning. The model mimics the same compound movement for opening the hood, first traversing horizontally and then flipping up from the rear. The astonishing air channeling system of the SLR is precisely detailed. From the hood air intakes to the side-mounted gills expelling engine bay exhaust to the exotic 6 channels of an aqueduct-shaped diffuser in the rear – all handmade.

CMC hasn't stinted on the interior either. The leather seats are just that, real leather. The cool aluminum is cool aluminum. Of course, the model features functional shocks, a realistically opening gas tank. The engine is uncompromising in its recreation of the Mercedes AMG V-8 Compressor engine.
