The SLR-Coupé was developed for the 1956 racing season. But Daimler-Benz retired from racing after the 1955 season, and the Coupé never had the chance to prove its worth on the race track. Only two pieces of this two-seater were built. The amount of public attention for a sports car was surprising. But in truth this was no mere sports car, but the reincarnation of the 300 hp Formula 1 Silver Arrow!
This Coupé was given to Rudolf Uhlenhaut, the ingenious engineer and leader of the Mercedes racing department, as his daily driver.
