At long last a ‘57 Fury comes to the party. Years ago I heard that this model was coming but due to the release of the DM ‘58 Fury, TFM decided to shelve the project. Well, the good news is that TFM has now not only taken it off the shelf but has issued the model with all of the bells and whistles. You want photo-etched scripts? This car has them in abundance. You want modern door hinges? This model has them. The wing windows are glazed and the 60/40 seat backs tip forward just as they should. Under the hood the 318 V800 engine is done perfectly. The side mounted air cleaners on the Carter WCFB carburetors are especially nice. The Mopar battery and generator label should satisfy anyone’s the urge for authenticity under the hood. The interior of the car looks just as it should with many shades of beige, tan and brown together with the requisite over abundance of chrome. On the outside the gold anodized aluminum side trim and grille are just what they should be. I score it as a plus that the gas filler is not functional. At least this way the paint matches and it will not fall off some sad day. The car is properly accessorized with dual mirrors and antennas that are canted at the correct angle.
This model has been criticized for a few issues, here’s my take on them. It took me a few days of looking at it to see what I think is wrong with the roof. I believe it is a little too low in the back and a little too high in the front. This makes the wing windows a little too high. It follows then that the windshield is a little too high as well. It’s hard to tell about the windshield though because these cars had massive windshields. The wheel covers could stand being a little larger as well so that the gap between the wheel cover and the tire is more realistic.
If you’re into fifties iron then this car is a must have. The price is $120 + S&H and tax where applicable.
