This is Franklin Mint's order #B11E905. It picks up where FM's order #B11E904 started. E904 is the Bullitt 1968 Mustang GT. To commemorate the fortieth anniversary of the movie, "Bullitt", Ford built a special limited edition of its popular 1:1 ride in the famous movie livery. The 4.6 V-8 makes 315 ponies at 6000 rpm and features a live rear axle system from their Shelby GT-500. Ford also followed the movie script and eliminated normal badging and emblems from the 2008 'Stang.
And although the '08 Bullitt model does not come with a facsimile of Steve McQueen's autograph, it does include the special display stand. As with their top-tech models of today, the Mustang features internal door hinges, fantastic detail to the interior, working suspension and even the movie's gunsite graphic on the fuel filler cap.
The treatment of the fabric belts and buckle ends look terrific and the dash, gauges and floor details are spot on! The chassis has phenomenal detailing and the use of color shades is better than ever. The exhaust heat shielding and engine bottom look exceptionally real and the transmission and steering assemblies shine on. Under the hood is everything a red-blooded car chase fan needs and craves. Scaling is marvelous and the high performance air cleaner, wiring and cabling are a work of art.
The look, stance and feel of the commemorative is wonderful. This would be an absolute must have for the 1:1 owners but any Ford, Mustang, muscle car or Bullitt fan will take joy in its ownership. Well done FM!
