OK, it's your daughter's first date. You nervously await the knock at the door. You hear a car pull in the driveway. Peeking through the drapes, you see this:

You're hoping it's just a fake-out paintjob until you catch a look through the hatchback window as they drive off. Just under the "NOS" and between the roll cage supports are two tanks of....... It's gonna be a loooong night!

GMP's having some barely street legal fun with their venerable '80s Mustang tooling. This '87 hatchback rides on front skinnies and rear slicks that barely clear the wheel wells. The deep metallic blue paint is rich and smooth save for a touch of orange peel on the deck which was probably protected from polishing process by the huge aftermarket spoiler. The yellow flames emanating from the front apron to the rear quarters appear to be pad printed with a slight area of overlapping at the front fender.

Performance goodies become evident when you open the 4" cowl induction hood revealing a nitrous injected 306 CID aspirated by cold air induction crowned with a photoetched flamed intake plate. High performance ignition box and coil, aluminum radiator and nitrous solenoids are all there. Feeding this monster setup are the twin nitrous tanks and the braided fuel lines that snake their way from the fuel sump along the undercarriage. While you're there, check out the huge exhaust dumps with racing mufflers, as well as the driveshaft safety loop.

Safety features and racing mods are also evident in the interior. The black leather covered racing seats with gray inserts are adorned with 5 point harnesses and surrounded by the 8 point roll cage. The dash features custom white faced gauges and a huge tachometer with shift light. The bulk of the interior is stock repeating the black and gray motif.

This is a really fun model that can't help but be a standout on the shelf, and at 1/18 scale, you won't be tempted to wrap it around a telephone pole.
