Highway 61 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger 340

If you want more run for your money... choose Dodge Dart!

The 340 engine was not avaiable in the Dart Swinger in 1971. In that year, the fastback Demon 340 had replaced the hardtop 1970 Swinger 340 in the Dodge lineup. Fans of performance A-body hardtops were left empty-handed.

Two Dodge dealerships in Canada, one in Saskatchewan called Crestview and another in Edmonton, Alberta convinced Chrysler to make a special run of 340 Swingers in 1971 due to their success with the 1970 models.

A total of 75 340 Swinger Specials built exclusivley for the Canadian market. All serial numbers and order numbers were sequential. The cars all included rallye wheels, chrome exhaust tips, and hood/wheel mouldings. Most had hood scoops as well. All 75 cars had the bumble bee stripe even though none were coded for it. The cars Crestview cars were available in a variety of popular colors.

Generally the 1971 Dart Swinger 340 was similar to the 1970 model. The most noticeable differences were the blacked-out front grille and quad tail lights on the 1971 models. Some of the emblems were mounted in different lcatiosn as well. The "Swinger" emblem was located on the front fenders, instead of the rear quarters like the 1970 Swingers, and has a "Special" emblem under it. The "DART" emblem remained on the rear quarters like in 1970.
