In 1964 Chevy introduced an all-new El Camino based on the mid-sized Chevelle. The El Camino was offered with two 6-cylinder engines or the 283 cid V-8. However, this situation was soon improved when the 327cid V-8 became an option. This Lane version, limited to only 2,000 models, recreates the 327 cid 300 hp powerplant. It also features chromed plated bed rails, operational tailgate, and separate chrome plated body trims.

The color scheme is perfect for a vehicle that combined the comfort of a passenger car with the utility of a truck: tuxedo black with red interior.
