Franklin Mint 1975 Corvette Convertible

Franklin Mint 1975 Corvette Convertible diecast car

This car is the last Corvette Convertible until the "revival" of the rag top (spearheaded by Lee Iacocca at Chrysler and the reintroduction of the Mustang convertible in late '83) as an Indy 500 Pace Car in 1986.

Unlike the new cars coming out of FM/DM, this model lacks the operational suspension. Based on the earlier '78 Corvette 25th Anniversary Coupe, the model receives a new convertible body (finished in a hot pale yellow!!) and is complete with a moveable top stowage cover as well as a raised black convertible top. Wheels are the stock rally-style slotted wheel with hubcap and trim rings. Other upgrades include a completely wired L88 V8 and "billboard" tires.

If you're into Corvettes, this is a good one.... I can't wait to see one of the FM Corvettes done as a complete new car with all the vast improvements included.! Recommended. The issue price is $90. [Reviewed 8/96]
