Franklin Mint 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible

Franklin Mint 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible diecast car

Well, finally, here it is!!!! The '63 Impala SS Convertible in Silver Blue Metallic (Marlin Blue Metallic) a new-for '63 color... and a very 60's one at that! What with the contrast of the black bucket seat interior, you can almost hear the strains of "See the USA in Your Chevrolet" and the lilt of Dinah's voice!

This is a very pretty car...the convertible body style, though repetitive, really shows off the style of this handsome Chevy. It's a slightly improved modification of the previously issued Sport Coupe. The build on this one is indeed better...even the door gaps are almost non-existent. The paintjob is quite smooth and even...especially difficult with metallic paint! The doors, hood and trunk all operate snugly and smoothly and the combination of the sum of its parts creates a very attractive "whole" The down side of this modification is that there isn't a raised soft top...something we've come to expect in all convertible issues from the Mints. The omission of this feature really detracts from the presence the model could have had.

This model is rated at a 3 1/2 star effort, a half-star over and above its Sport Coupe counterpart. Nice car, check it out... The issue price is $120. (08/19/1998)
