This is a first.

I suggest our readers check out an episode of Two Broke Girls, a CBS comedy that tries very hard to be funny, but like most Chuck Lorre shows, it started out well written but has since slid into what passes for sensationalism but is actually merely syrupy, unfunny dialog full of sexual innuendo.

So, Rusty, why do you want me to look this up?

Because in episode 9 this season (amazingly, their fourth), they feature a sleek Lamborghini Aventador Roadster as a guest star. They film a lot of the episode in and around the car so you get to take nice long looks at this dramatic roadster. So yes, one of the broke girls has a chest to die for and the other has legs that go on for days - but the thing that will have you panting are the futuristic stylings of this incredible Lambo.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have one all your own? Well now you can. And an even better version. Look Ma, no windshields…

AUTO art has done their usual star turn modeling the Lamborghini Aventador J in 1/18, but that shouldn’t be all that surprising given how their earlier Aventador models have been executed. The Aventador, which first appeared in 2011, was billed as being: “Built in Italy. Arrived from the future”. As the successor to the all-conquering Murcielago, it had a lot to live up to, and it has - with its swooping lines and geometric design flourishes bringing a lot more personality to the table.

The J (from FIA designation “Appendix J”) is both roofless and windowless: a concept version using the same V12 engine as the standard Aventador, producing 700 hp through a lightweight seven-speed automated transmission. And it features a new ‘carbonskin” interior that’s carbon fiber in origin. The impact of all the changes was to make it a sport bike - angular, lean, light and breathtakingly fast.

But the Aventador J does skimp on a few things: no air conditioning or radio to save further weight. The car presented at the Geneva show was the only unit to be produced, and was sold for US$2.8 million. Purportedly one more was built as a custom customer order but it’s whereabouts and selling price are not known. The model though, does not skimp at all - 339 parts including very intricate photo-etched grilles front and back and high quality metal struts of the front bonnet and scissor doors.

AUTO art has been putting out impressive and well articulated Lamborghini models for almost 20 years now and this model shines forth better than most. The shape and stance are dead on, and the gorgeous metallic red paint is liquid in its luster and it seems as deep as the ocean. The two-tone interior is well articulated, and the glazing and badging are uniformly excellent which has become SOP for AUTO art. The wheels with their razor sharpness and anodized color coded center nut are particularly striking.

That AUTO art has yet another Lamborghini masterpiece in it’s stable probably isn’t a real surprise. But they do continue to amaze with each new shining star they produce. Well worth the price.

Even for two broke girls.
