The 1992 season was Hakkinen's first full season in Formula One, and he would go on to win two world championships with McLaren in 1998 and 1999. The Lotus 107 was designed by Chris Murphy and was powered by a Ford-Cosworth HB V8 engine. It was the last car designed by Lotus before they withdrew from Formula One at the end of the 1994 season.
