The 1947 Cisitalia 202 SMM Cabriolet by Stabilimenti Farina is a rare blend of racing pedigree and coachbuilt artistry, conceived as a competition variant of one of the most beautiful postwar sports cars ever designed. Only about 20 hand-built examples were produced, each closely mirroring the Mille Miglia–winning Spider Nuvolari—famous for its long rear fins, dual windshields, and streamlined aluminum body penned by Giovanni Savonuzzi and executed by Stabilimenti Farina. What truly sets it apart is its pioneering “single-shell” aerodynamic coachwork, where hood, fenders, and headlights merge into continuous flowing surfaces—a radical departure from the segmented styling of the era, and one that earned the Cisitalia a place in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection.
