The 1964 De Tomaso Shelby P70 Can-Am Press Car is a remarkable one-off prototype born from the collaboration between Carroll Shelby, Alejandro de Tomaso, and designer Peter Brock, created as a potential replacement for Shelby’s King Cobra racers. Its lightweight backbone chassis and mid-engine layout were clothed in an exceptionally low, aerodynamic aluminum body built by Carrozzeria Fantuzzi, featuring partially covered rear wheels and a distinctive movable rear wing designed to increase stability without excessive drag. The P70 was intended to use a specially developed 7.0-liter Ford-based V8 to challenge the big-engine Can-Am competition, but only one prototype was completed and the planned engine never materialized. Its combination of American V8 performance concepts, Italian engineering and coachbuilding, and Peter Brock’s advanced aerodynamics makes the P70 one of the most unusual and significant “what-if” race cars of the 1960s.

This model is hand painted and polished to a beautiful finish and has a sealed body. Resin models are
exceptionally accurate of scale, shape and detail. Each model is created using a variety of production
processes, to achieve this precision. They are produced using a composite material referred to in the
industry as “resin”. Photo etched parts, die-cutting, tampo printing and waterslide decals are often used
for the most authentic replication.
