The 2004 Audi R8 No. 5, entered by Audi Sport Japan Team Goh, captured a spectacular overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, completing 379 laps in one of the closest finishes in the race's history. Driven by Japanese star Seiji Ara, Italian endurance racing champion Rinaldo "Dindo" Capello, and Danish legend Tom Kristensen, the Audi crossed the finish line just 41.354 seconds ahead of the second-place Audi. Its 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produced approximately 580 horsepower, while its lightweight carbon-fiber monocoque chassis and advanced aerodynamics delivered exceptional speed and reliability. The victory was especially historic for Ara and Team Goh, marking their first Le Mans triumph, while Kristensen secured his sixth overall victory and fifth consecutive win, equaling Jacky Ickx's record at the time. The No. 5 remains one of the most celebrated examples of Audi's legendary R8 endurance racing dominance.
