The BMW M4 GT3 (Evo) #31 driven by Sheldon van der Linde competed for Team WRT in the Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup on the tight Guia Circuit. Van der Linde, a highly accomplished South African driver and former DTM champion, is known for his endurance-racing success with BMW in events such as the Spa 24 Hours and the Bathurst 12 Hour. During the 2025 Macau weekend he faced early setbacks after clipping the barrier in qualifying, forcing him to start from the back, but he mounted a determined comeback drive in the #31 BMW M4 GT3 Evo, ultimately finishing sixth in the main race.
What makes this car particularly distinctive is the BMW M4 GT3 Evo’s special Shell-themed livery and upgraded GT3 Evo package, designed to improve aerodynamics, braking stability, and overall performance on demanding circuits like Macau’s narrow street course. The Macau GT World Cup itself is unique among GT races because it is a single-event international showdown held on a confined city street track, where overtaking opportunities are scarce and precision driving is essential—making Van der Linde’s recovery through the field especially impressive against some of the world’s best GT drivers.
