The BMW V12 LM No. 2 from BMW Motorsport competed in the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans with drivers Pierluigi Martini, Joachim Winkelhock, and Johnny Cecotto. Martini was an experienced Italian endurance racer best known for his success with prototype sports cars, Winkelhock was a former Formula One driver and touring car champion, and Cecotto was a Venezuelan racing legend with victories in both motorcycles and four-wheel competition. The V12 LM was a significant milestone for BMW, serving as the company’s first modern Le Mans prototype and featuring a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis, advanced aerodynamics, and a powerful 6.0-liter BMW V12 engine developed from the McLaren F1 GTR powerplant. Its combination of German engineering, Formula One-inspired technology, and endurance-focused design made it a unique competitor, representing BMW’s ambition to challenge the established prototype manufacturers at the world’s most demanding race.
Spark models are hand painted, decorated and assembled. Each model is created using a variety of
production processes, such as hand cast resin, diecast and injected molded thermoplastics.Photo etched
parts, die-cutting, tampo printing and waterslide decals are also used. Spark ensures the absolute best
quality possible. Each model comes with its own acrylic display case.
