The Cougar C22LM Porsche No. 13 competed in the 1989 24 Hours of Le Mans with drivers Patrick Fabre, Jean-Louis Bousquet, and Jun Yoneyama. Fabre and Bousquet were experienced French endurance racers, while Japanese driver Yoneyama brought international experience from Japan’s growing sports car racing scene. The Cougar C22LM was a rare and distinctive Group C prototype built by French constructor Cougar Racing, utilizing Porsche power and designed specifically for long-distance endurance competition. Unlike factory-backed Porsche 962s that dominated the era, the C22LM represented the creativity of independent constructors, featuring a lightweight aerodynamic body, ground-effect design, and a reliable Porsche-derived turbocharged engine.
