The 1957 Jaguar D-Type No. 3, entered by the Scottish Ecurie Ecosse racing team, achieved a magnificent overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, driven by Ron Flockhart and Ivor Bueb. Powered by a formidable 3.8-liter naturally aspirated Jaguar XK inline-six engine, producing approximately 306 horsepower, the aerodynamic D-Type completed 327 laps and covered nearly 4,397 kilometers. Designed by Malcolm Sayer, its innovative lightweight monocoque construction, distinctive vertical tail fin, and advanced disc brakes gave it a significant advantage over many of its competitors. The victory was particularly historic because Jaguar D-Types finished first, second, third, and fourth, with another taking sixth place. This was Jaguar's third consecutive Le Mans victory and its fifth overall, cementing the D-Type's reputation as one of the greatest endurance racing cars of the 1950s.
