The 1997 McLaren F1 GTR No. 41, entered by Gulf Team Davidoff, achieved a remarkable second-place overall finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, winning the GT1 class and proving that a production-based GT car could challenge purpose-built prototypes. Driven by Swedish endurance racing star Anders Olofsson and French drivers Pierre-Henri Raphanel and Jean-Marc Gounon, the McLaren completed an incredible 360 laps. Its mid-mounted 6.1-liter BMW V12 engine produced approximately 600 horsepower, delivering exceptional speed and reliability. The car's lightweight construction, carbon-fiber chassis, and distinctive blue, black, and orange Gulf Team Davidoff livery made it an unmistakable presence on the track. Finishing second overall, just one lap behind the winning Porsche prototype, the No. 41 remains one of the most celebrated McLaren F1 GTR entries in Le Mans history.
