The 1998 Nissan R390 GT1 No. 33, entered by Nissan Motorsports/Nova, finished an impressive 10th overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, completing 319 laps in its second year of competition. Driven by Japanese racing talents Satoshi Motoyama, Masami Kageyama, and Takuya Kurosawa, the No. 33 was part of Nissan's four-car factory effort to challenge Europe's finest GT1 machinery. Beneath its distinctive silver-and-green JOMO-sponsored bodywork was a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing approximately 650 horsepower, paired with a six-speed sequential transmission. Developed through Nissan's partnership with Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), the R390 featured a lightweight carbon-fiber and Kevlar construction, advanced aerodynamics, and a mid-engine layout. Its all-Japanese driver lineup and striking JOMO livery make the No. 33 a particularly interesting entry in Nissan's ambitious Le Mans racing history.
