Ford GT 40 Roadster X1 '65 Targa Florio Bondurant #194 1:43
The 1965 Ford GT40 Roadster X1 #194 was driven by American racing star Bob Bondurant and British driver John Whitmore for Ford Advanced Vehicles in the demanding Targa Florio in Sicily. Bondurant was a highly accomplished sports-car racer who would later win the 1965 FIA World Manufacturers' Championship with Shelby American. This GT40 was especially distinctive as an open-top roadster, finished in Linden Green and powered by Ford's 289-cubic-inch V8; its open cockpit was intended to provide an advantage on the tight, twisting Sicilian circuit. The car ran as high as third despite mechanical problems, but a wheel issue, fuel-pump trouble, and ultimately an accident ended its race. Its combination of experimental roadster design, Targa Florio history, and the famous #194 race marking makes it a particularly unusual GT40.
