The Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI #9, driven by Italian Formula 1 veteran Stefano Modena for JAS Motorsport Alfa Romeo during the 1996 International Touring Car Championship (ITC), was one of the most technologically advanced touring cars of its era. Modena, who had competed in Formula 1 for Brabham, Tyrrell, and Jordan, was particularly impressive in the ITC, scoring two victories for Alfa Romeo during his career with the 155 V6 TI. The #9 featured Alfa's sophisticated four-wheel-drive system, ABS, traction control, F1-inspired inboard suspension, and six-speed semi-sequential transmission. Later in the 1996 season, the 155 received the new 2.5-liter 690RC V6, producing approximately 490 hp at nearly 12,000 rpm and enabling the car to exceed 300 km/h (186 mph). Modena's #9 was especially notable at Suzuka, where he qualified an impressive third overall, demonstrating the remarkable speed of Alfa Romeo's final-generation 155 V6 TI.
