The Mercedes-Benz C11 #32 entered by Team Sauber Mercedes at the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans was driven by Jonathan Palmer, Stanley Dickens, and Kurt Thiim. Palmer, a former Formula 1 driver and experienced endurance racer, shared the car with Swedish Le Mans winner Stanley Dickens and Danish touring-car star Kurt Thiim. The #32 was particularly impressive early in the race, briefly taking the lead as the three Sauber-Mercedes C11s dominated the opening hours. Its 5.0-liter Mercedes M119 twin-turbo V8 produced up to around 850 hp in qualifying trim, while the lightweight composite chassis and highly developed aerodynamics allowed it to reach approximately 342 km/h (213 mph). Unfortunately, the #32 retired in the 15th hour after an engine failure, having completed 223 laps.
