The driver lineup was equally impressive. Hans-Joachim Stuck, a German endurance-racing specialist, brought extensive experience with Porsche prototypes; Thierry Boutsen, a former Formula One Grand Prix winner from Belgium, added exceptional speed and technical skill; and French veteran Bob Wollek was one of Porsche’s most accomplished sports-car racers. Although the #25 finished 11th in pre-qualifying rather than second, the team went on to secure an outstanding second overall and first in the GT1 class at the 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans, completing 353 laps. The car’s combination of road-car-inspired styling and near-prototype performance made it a landmark in Porsche’s racing history.
